Chase The Light
Austin, TX • Candy Yu Yen Kuo
It is always a dream when a project embodies both my love for portraiture and my passion for telling the stories of women and underrepresented voices in Austin’s communities. As a tool, art has the power to not only inspire, but educate, influence, and motivate change as well and I always hope my pieces can provide a soft moment of self-reflection on the beauty of our varied individualities.

Candy Kuo’s mural “Chase the Light” is located in Austin, Texas, a city she has called home for many years. Drawing inspiration from the work of the local organization Art from the Streets and her own experiences witnessing the injustices of redlining that force families from their homes, the mural carries a message of hope. It serves as a reminder to prioritize housing security, basic needs, and the emotional and psychological well-being of the community, lighting the way toward a more equitable future.
